EXERCISE WITH MINIMOTION

Training with the MiniMotion.

The goals of rehabilitation have changed during the last decades. In addition to winning mobilization and strength Coordination and functional training gets more and more significant

There are some interesting training devices that emphasize these areas. Keywords of the training devices are :
• a major therapeutic area
• low cost
• high functionality

Meanwhile, the Mini Motion Bar was developed.. Basically the Mini Motion Bar does the same as a “Mini Blade"
- a thin flat iron.

Goal of the exercise with the Minimotion is to bring the flat iron in his own frequence by rhythmic movements of the bodypart. The frequency is primarily determined by the length of the flat iron and the position of the magnetic weight on this iron

Training options
The Minimotion can be used in the acute phase with very low intensity, till the final phase of rehabilitation with the highest coordinative demands and forces.

Acute phase
In this phase, exercises with minimum exposure of the passive structures are recommended. The goal of this exercises is a rhythmic contraction of agonists and antagonists. The effect of these exercises are similar to continuous passive motion. Especially in the neck and spine this application is very suitable for a direct pain relief and improves the range of motion. This application is generally known as Matrix Building

Mobilization with rhythmic movement.

Meanwhile, the first clinical evidence that the MiniMotion-training for the spine, hip, knee, and Shoulder pathologies are positive. Various methods aspire to an active or passive mobilization from the Humerus or Femur. The Mini Motion Bar is used for this purpose. While the patient is in the supine position he/she moves leg or arm unloaded in rotation. Meanwhile the therapist will manually mobilize the arm or leg in the preferred direction,. The preferred direction is by means of a function analysis determined.

Activation local muscles.
The local muscle- theory is increasingly important. In addition to the findings in the treatment of the lumbar spine it is clear that similar principles shall apply for neck, shoulder-arm, hip and hand.

It is shown:
• Only small contractions leads to activation local muscles.
• Rhythmic movements in the lumbar area leads to an automatic activation of multifidis fibers.
• Exercises are mainly in the position in which the symptoms occur.

Here, the MiniMotion can bring many interesting and creative therapeutic options

Progressive training with the Minimotion.
Higher frequencies lead to bigger plyometric forces.
Larger amplitudes at the same frequency lead to greater intra-articular compression forces.
Accordingly, the compression load L4-L5 for different training fails.
Exercises with a conventional blade achieved with a small Amplitude 1.6 N with large amplitudes 4.6 N.
This exceeds the NIOSH limit of 3.4 N (A Work Practices Guide for Manual Lifting. Cincinnati Ohio Dept. of Health and Human Services National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; 1981st Technical Report no. 81-122.)

For this reason, high frequencies with large amplitudes at the end of rehabilitation can be selected.

Speed training
How high the demand on the stabilizing system is shows high-speed recording. Especially the cervical muscles should always be stabilized.

Using the Minimotion you can systematically train different directions for speed The goals can be different:
For example painful and fast movements coordinately be able to control, or the anticipation in sports to optimize rapid head movements (ball sports, martial arts, mountain biking, Skiing, etc.)

Strength Training
Rhythmic muscle contraction under static tension is one of the more difficult tasks in strength training. The Minimotion can be mounted at the patient or at a Training device . This makes it possible to vary the normal training day and gives training new impulses.

While using the Minimotion in standing position different exercises can be made. Under other things, the rotation of the exercised leg unloaded or loaded

Attach the Minimotion by using the straps. Using the Minimotion can be practiced inthree directions:
forward / backward
sidewards
rotation

Use the Minimotion for:
-Rehabilitation after surgery
-Rehabilitation after trauma
-Chronic pain
-Instability
-Attitude weakness

Minimotion Training: (Example training program neck)

Relaxation
During this kind of training there are very small forces generated.

Starting position
Lying on your back. Head on a pillow or folded towel on a comfortable height.
Holder above your ear.
Frequency Slow
Bar Long
Clip In the final position

Duration
Minimum 3 minutes, daily if necessary increase the reps of 3 minutes to 30-45 minutes per day.

Implementation
During the exercise, by means of a minimum pulse the bar is moved into its own frequency. The momentum is given in one direction. During the exercise, a maximumrelaxation achieved.

Result
This kind of training should only be given positive results: smoother, looser, less painand more mobile. It is normal that a portion of the result achieved during the next daydisappears.

Stabilization
During this form of training, small forces are generated on the neck.
Similar to forces that occur during walking.

Starting position
Sitting or standing position. Minimotion fixed around the head. Holder above the earor on the front head.
Frequency Slow
Bar Long
Clip In the final position

Duration
10 seconds. Possible build to 30 seconds.
30 seconds pause. 3 sets.

Implementation
During the exercise, by means of a minimum pulse the bar is moved into its own frequency. The momentum is given in one direction. During this exercise, pursued anoptimum posture.

Result
This type of training generates more activity on muscles with the objective ofimproving stabilizing and coordination. Temporarily a feeling of stiffness, tension orpressure could be felt.

Muscle Strengthening
This form of training generates moderate to intense forces on the neck. Forcessimilar to isometric contractions and training with resistance bands.

Preparation
4 weeks training with the Minimotion stabilization.

Starting position
Upper body in inclined or horizontal position. Head in line with the total body. Minimotion fixed around the head. Holder above the ear or on the forehead. Neck in the optimal (straight) position. The upper body is trained according to the nature of adiagonal to horizontal position.
Frequency Slow to moderate
Bar Long - medium
Clip In middle position or end position

Duration
Strength Endurance
20-30 seconds
Building Muscle
40-60 seconds
Set
3
3
Setpause
60 seconds
90 seconds

Training Frequency
3x per week
2x per week

Audience
Athletes trained and taxable persons

Implementation
During the exercise, by means of a minimum pulse the bar is moved into its own frequency. The momentum is given in one direction. During this exercise, pursued anoptimum posture.

Result
During this kind of training there will be a feeling of fatigue.

Anticipation and speed training
During this kind of training you generate maximum forces on the neck. This form oftraining is only suitable for athletes and highly dutiable persons.

Preparation
4 weeks muscle strengthening and stabilization with the Minimotion.

Starting position
Mini Motion fixated around the head. Holder above your ear or on the forehead. Head in the desired starting position
Frequency Medium to fast
Bar Medium - Short
Clip In middle or short position

Duration
Up to 10 seconds, below combined with functional exercises
Set 3
Setpause 5-7 minutes

Training Frequency
2x per week

Audience
Only trained athletes, dutiable persons.

Implementation
During the exercise, by means of a minimum pulse the bar is moved into its own frequency. The momentum is given in one direction. During this exercise, pursued anoptimum posture.

Result
During this training a feeling of high to maximum load is felt.
